Carlos Magdalena, RBG Kew, arrived in Florida after visiting the New York Botanical Garden, Brooklyn Botanic Garden and Longwood Gardens, to meet with several leading waterlily and Victoria hybridizers at Kit and Ben Knotts' "Paradise".

Rich Sacher, Louisiana, Dave and Davia Brigante, Oregon, Craig and Darcy Presnell, Florida, joined us for a day to a week of information exchange, experiments, garden touring and some fun.

McKee Botanical Garden Carlos, Kit, Dave and Davia went to McKee Botanical Garden in Vero Beach, Florida, hosted by Director of Horticulture Andreas Daehnick and long-time "waterlily mom" Edna Carsner. Carlos completed his US trip in south Florida.

Florida Aquatic Nurseries

Brad McLane and Brandon McLane hosted Carlos and Jim Thiele for a tour of their nurseries in Ft. Lauderdale. An airboat trip to see N. elegans in situ followed.
