By Stephyn G. W. Butcher, July 2003 I've lived in Washington D.C. for over 13 years and I had never heard of the Kenilworth Park & Aquatic Gardens..."[which] is the only National Park Service site devoted to the propagation and display of aquatic plants" ... until two weeks ago when their "Water Lily Festival" was mentioned in the paper. The gardens are fantastic, with old propagation greenhouses from the turn of the previous century and HUGE ponds. It was simply amazing... little turtles sunning on water lily leaves, huge dragon flies, koi in one pond, mosquito fish in most of the others. I'd never seen anything like it. |
