While the flower and pad color of both cultivars is similar, < 'Red Cup' petals are slender where 'Red Flare' > petals are wide.

< 'Red Cup' pads are mahogany brown with occasional flecks of green, very smooth on the top surface and finely denate, where 'Red Flare' > pads are mahogany-red, denate and undulating.
