Guillermo Angulo's Victoria 'Longwood Hybrid', which spent most of its first year in a bathtub, has a second life in a pond at "Tegualda". To keep it warm on cool Colombian nights, a cover was constructed from branches, wire and bubble plastic, fondly called the "kite". The kite increases the water temperature from 6-8C above ambient air temperature. Within a month after the transplant in February 2002, the plant was in bud and in two months was thriving.
