If you have decided to try your hand at breeding waterlilies, it may be helpful to learn something about the track record of prospective parents. Your particular growing conditions may affect viability for the better or for the worse, and the degree of fertility of some varieties can vary.

This list has been compiled by Werner Wallner with input from our Email Discussion List. If you can confirm that a variety has been fertile as pod or pollen parent, we will happily add it to the list. The basis of the list was parents found in the literature researched for Named Waterlilies and these are marked with "?". Those confirmed or added based on the personal experience of hybridizers recently are marked with "x". If the "x" is followed by a number, it indicates multiple confirmations.
