(N. 'Obergärtner Graebner')

Kit Knotts photos: I received a large tuber in early 2003 from Anna Pettersson of Berguis Botanic Garden, Stockholm, Sweden. I grew it out for the first time that year and have grown it continuously from tuber. This cultivar has been grown at Bergius for many, many years as 'Obergärtner Graebner' (not a published name) but I believe it to be 'Hofgärtner Graebner' (Harster, 1895, rose. Henkel et al, Das Buch der Nymphaeaceen oder Seerosengewächse p. 90, 1907). It is entered in the Names Lists and Galleries under both names.

Note: The heavily veined chocolate brown leaves tend to be green-brown in less than full sun, greenhouses and late in the growing season. It is not a prolific bloomer but quite startling bright rose pink when it does bloom.
